Details

Golden Arrow is a flexible, adaptable and easy to use Archery competition scoring program.  It can handle the whole process from setting up competitors to final results.

With Golden Arrow you can produce accurate results with confidence and in less time than almost any other method.  The “Quick Scoring” module in Golden Arrow allows score entry without needing to look archers up in tables or enter any other information. Provided the information in Golden Arrow is correct, the results will be correct.

There is no need to sort score sheets, they can be input in any order, as they are received.  All you need is the unique ID number allocated to the Archer and their score data.  It is quite possible to produce results for well over a hundred archers before the equipment has been put away.

Golden Arrow will also compute Couples and Team results.  For team results these are calculated according to a “rule” you define in terms of number in a team and who is eligible or not.

If you want to run a leaderboard, this is easy too.

Golden Arrow can process Score, Hits, Golds, Tens and Nines, but you have the choice of what you use and what you don’t.  It is possible to “alias” an unused column to a user defined heading eg X’s.

You control sort order and how results are presented.  You can select the grouping of up to 4 items to present results how you want them.

Results can be viewed in a standard web browser (no internet connection required), printed or exported to spreadsheets or word processing packages.

You can run Golden Arrow on two PC’s at once.  The license allows it to be installed on a desktop PC for setting the competition up and on a laptop for scoring on the day.

Golden Arrow will handle the whole process from Target List to Results.  Archers can be assigned to targets by “drag and drop” using the Target Map feature.

Used for check in, Golden Arrow will check if a target fee is due.  If on checking in there are details to be changed these can be edited easily on the fly.

When entering scores checks are made for consistency and against maximum score and hits for the round.

The Golden Arrow program is for scoring archery competitions and will produce formatted results quicker and more accurately than any manual method.  The program is flexible and adaptable and will handle most common scoring scenarios.  It is not tied to any pre-defined format of round, bow class, archer, or scoring method.

Having set up the competitors and the competition details the program uses a unique ID number to relate a competitor to his/her score.  It is not necessary to enter scores in order, nor to look up names in a list.  Provided the archer has entered the score correctly against the unique ID number and provided the details against that ID in the program is correct, the results will be correct - every time.  As scores are entered they are validated against maximum score, hits etc for the round and logic checks such as number of golds not exceeding number of hits are made.  There are only two sources of error with Golden Arrow - either the archer has not added up the score correctly, or in entering the data a mistake has been made (eg 556 entered as 565) - unfortunately Golden Arrow can't help with this!

Golden Arrow offers the following features:-

Leaderboard Scoring - Run a leaderboard either by adding scores for each interval to the previous total or by entering a new total.  The leaderboard mode does not assume scoring "per dozen", you only need to tell it the number of lines on the scoresheet

Couples Scoring - Automatically computes scores for couples.  For eligible archers identify their partner and the program does the rest, including checking for single scores

Teams - Golden Arrow computes team results according to user defined rules.  Number in a team, who is included and who is excluded is all configurable - the program does the rest....

Multiple Rounds - Scoring a competition with 1, 2, or more rounds being shot is easy.  Enter the score for each round and Golden Arrow will total them, average them or take the best one and output perfect results.

Mutiple Competitions - If you are running several competitions together these can be scored separately, either when run side by side (eg Ladies and Gents FITA) or sequentially (separate sessions).  Golden Arrow will either score them separately or overall, you choose

Multiple Entries - If an archer wants to enter twice you can exclude the second score from the results

Home and Away - If in addition to open results you want to produce results for Home and Visitors this is easily done by simply adding the relevant categories and using them or not in result computation

Handicaps - If you are running a handicap competition, enter each competitors handicap adjustment for it to be added to their score for results purposes.  Running results that are handicapped and not handicapped is just a question of selecting the relevant option

Easy Target Allocation - Archers can be assigned to targets using the Target Map feature to drag and drop archers.  The Target map makes it easy to check that targets are not over-crowded and that archers from the same club are split up.  The target allocations are automatically taken forward into the Target List.

Pre-Competition - As entries come in you enter them in the relevant tables along with if payment has been received or not.  Data such as GNAS number etc can also be recorded, along with notes such as a trophy to be returned.  This information is available at check in, either using a printed sheet or using Golden Arrow.  If using the latter a warning message will pop up if payment needs to be made.  Golden Arrow will also print out the Target List

On the Day - Adding archers who turn up on the day is easy, just enter their details.  Similarly deal with substitutions and changes.  As long as the information in Golden Arrow is correct, the results will be correct - no need to collate scoresheets by bow class etc

Producing Results - Results are produced by simply selecting the required format.  Sort order, visible columns, grouping of results are all user selectable.  Results are viewed in a standard web browser (no internet connection required) or can be printed.  Format in terms of fonts, colours, whether to include a logo or not are all user controllable.  If you want to use another program to format results you can export them from Golden Arrow in various formats.

Result Format - Results can be grouped by up to 4 (minimum 1) group levels.  Typically these would be Group (eg York), Section (eg Ladies), Class (eg Compound) but they can be set in any order.

Limitations

There is no limit to the number of rounds, bow classes, archers, groups, categories or sections that can be used.  Can handle 2 day shoots where archers only shoot one day, allowing a different archer to shoot on the same target the second day.

The only limitations are:-

For handicapping the program can only handle one handicap adjustment per archer.  This is applied per round but the assumption is that all the rounds the archer shoots are the same for handicapping purposes

Where a group of archers shoots more than one round, it is assumed that target numbers stay the same from round to round
